Kangaatsiaq is a town located at the northern end of the Qeqertalik municipality in western Greenland. The town received town status as recently as 1986, though as a settlement it has existed much longer. It has 520 inhabitants as of 2020. Nearby settlements are Attu, Niaqornaarsuk, Ikerasaarsuk and Iginniarfik.

Sisimiut, formerly known by its colonial name Holsteinsborg, is the capital and largest city of the Qeqqata municipality, the second-largest city in Greenland, and the largest arctic city in North America. It is located in central-western Greenland, on the coast of Davis Strait, approximately 320 km north of Nuuk.

Ilulissat is a coastal town in western Greenland. It's known for the Ilulissat Icefjord and for huge icebergs Disko Bay, shed by the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier. Trails run to the Sermermiut settlement for dramatic views over the ice. The Ilulissat Museum traces the area’s history and the life of local-born explorer Knud Rasmussen. The area is home to thousands of Greenland dogs, used for dogsledding.

Disko Bay is a large bay on the western coast of Greenland. The bay constitutes a wide southeastern inlet of Baffin Bay.

Arsuk is a village in the Sermersooq municipality in southwestern Greenland. It had 73 inhabitants in 2020. The name of the settlement means the beloved place in the Greenlandic language. The village is served by the communal all-purpose Pilersuisoq store.

Ittoqqortoormiit just like Qaanaaq is one of the youngest towns in Greenland and by far the most isolated. Scoresby Sund with its side fjords are the largest fjord complex in the world and the fjord itself is also the longest in the world. The municipality is about the size of Great Britain and, this would indicate that each of the 562 inhabitants has an area of 420 km2 to roam in. However, the inhabitants live in Ittoqqortoormiit or one of the two settlements, Itterajivit/Cape Hope or Uunartoq/Cape Tobin. Hunting and, to some degree, fishing are the main trades of the area. The town was settled by people from Ammassalik in 1925, supported by the Danish seafarer Ejnar Mikkelsen. Already at that time, the area was known as a very good hunting ground for seals, walruses and polar bears. Only few tourists make it to this remote area.
