Palma is a resort city and capital of the Spanish island of Mallorca (Majorca), in the western Mediterranean. The massive Santa María cathedral, a Gothic landmark begun in the 13th century, overlooks the Bay of Palma. The adjacent Almudaina is a Moorish-style Arab fortress converted to a royal residence. West of the city, hilltop Bellver Castle is a medieval fortress with a distinctive circular shape.
In the west of Sardinia, Olbia is protected in an idyllic bay on the Gulf of Olbia. The lively city welcomes you with open arms and is eager to show visitors its historical and cultural treasures. At the same time, a stop on your cruise gives you the opportunity to discover the picturesque beaches and bays as well as the beauty of the rugged cliffs on the Costa Smeralda. Even the underwater world makes Olbia a place of longing for travelers.
The Italian city of Civitavecchia is located around 70 km northwest of the Italian capital Rome and is a popular port for cruises in the western Mediterranean. Anyone who docks in Civitavecchia by ship only needs a little over an hour to reach the Eternal City. The shuttle takes you to Rome's main train station, Roma Termini, in less than an hour, in the heart of the Italian capital. Ancient buildings, medieval squares, alleys and fountains as well as world-famous museums await you here.
During the European upheaval of the Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries, Livorno in Italy was laid out as an “ideal city”. A project that leaves a lasting impression on vacationers to this day. In addition, there is the fantastic landscape that characterizes the region of Tuscany. It is one of the most popular travel destinations in Italy. The town with around 160,000 inhabitants is located on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and, with its important port, is a popular destination for cruise ships. Livorno itself already offers numerous sights that you can explore on a city stroll. The city is also a great starting point for organized excursions along the coast and inland. Or you can visit one of the islands easily accessible by ferry, including Corsica, Elba and Sardinia. Livorno will probably turn out to be an absolute highlight on your cruise through the Mediterranean.
A touch of luxury and glamor is in the air when your ship sets sail for Cannes. Right on the Côte d'Azur, one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in France, the finest beach, palm-lined promenades and luxurious yachts await you. As soon as your ship docks in Cannes, you will encounter something special on your cruise. In Cannes there is a fashionable marina, but you will look in vain for moorings for cruise ships on your journey in the port. There is a berth for your ship directly on the Mediterranean Sea. The ocean liners anchor here during their stay. You start your journey in France with tender boats. The boats will bring you safely ashore in a few minutes. The landing stage for the tender boats is on Quai Max Laubeuf. A branch of the Cannes Tourist Information Center awaits you right at the Cruise Terminal. Here you can find out about excursion destinations in the city and buy bus tickets. You will also receive free city maps to discover Cannes.
Marseille, the second largest city in the country, lies on France's Mediterranean coast: the metropolis of millions is a place of charming contrasts. Right next to the historic forts from the 17th century, which guard the Old Harbor, the impressive new building of the MuCEM Museum, which opened in 2013, rises. Above the harbor, the Byzantine-inspired Notre Dame de la Garde cathedral watches over the city peacefully, while French city life rages on the Canebière shopping street. Take advantage of your stay in Marseille during your cruise to get to know the diverse city for yourself or escape into heavenly solitude on a boat trip along the impressive Calanques. There is also a place for everyone on the city beach in Marseille.
A cruise to Palamós takes you to the Costa Brava, the "wild coast" in Spain's northeast. This is in the province of Girona in the autonomous community of Catalonia. The rugged Costa Brava, with its steeply sloping cliffs and fine sandy beaches, stretches over 220 km along the Mediterranean coast of Spain - from the foothills of the Pyrenees in the south of France to the province of Barcelona, with the city of Barcelona around an hour south. Discover the traces of an ancient history in Palamós and the unique natural beauties of the region on your shore leave.
Discover one of the most popular islands in Spain on a cruise. From Ibiza's port you start an unforgettable shore leave: The Mediterranean architecture of Spain, real dream beaches and a varied cultural offer await you on the third largest island of the Balearic Islands. Eivissa, as the island is still called today by the locals, is not only a place steeped in history, but also a center of entertainment and definitely worth an extended excursion.
