These lesser-known Mayan ruins have not been as extensively excavated as some of their more famous counterparts, but they’re still spectacular. Close to the Belize border and almost consumed by the jungle, Kohunlich may provide your glimpse into this incredible civilisation. It encompasses wide lawns and ball courts, as well as higher structures like the Temple of the Masks with its sculpted faces.
