Here, you can visit the port chosen by the whims of the land and the fort designated by the Royal Commission. Visit the interesting and historical Newhaven Fort, which is now a museum, to discover more about Newhaven’s role in discouraging invasion from across the English Channel.

    The unmistakable Scottish Highlands are shrouded in myth and folklore. Amid the conical hills and verdant glens beyond Inverness, one cannot help but scan Loch Ness for signs of its legendary monster. Nearby is Culloden Moor is where Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated and Cawdor Castle, which is forever linked with Macbeth. There are several famous whisky distilleries in the region, too.

    Kirkwall’s Norse heritage stretches back almost a millennium, when the Vikings laid the foundations for St Magnus Cathedral, the most northerly cathedral in Britain, and is built from local sandstone. Tune in to the history of the radio at the Wireless Museum or sample the island’s peaty single malts at the Highland Park Distillery.

    Killybegs is a natural deep-water harbour on the dramatic and rugged northwest coast of Ireland’s remote County Donegal. Striking hills roll inland from the cliffs and coves sculpted by the Atlantic. Killybegs is an important fishing harbour, the largest in Ireland, and the majority of the country’s most sizeable trawlers operate from here. The town is also famous for its excellent tapestries and carpets, known as Donegals. They are made using a Turkish hand-knotted technique and can be found in some of the most prestigious address around the world, from Buckingham Palace to the White House. While it’s no longer a manufacturing hub, you can still learn the secrets of the process at the Killybegs International Carpet Making and Fishing Centre. It is home to the largest hand-knotted loom in the world, where you can even put your own skills to the test.

    Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland, enjoys a wonderful setting of high hills, sea lough and river valley. Founded in the 17th century, the city prospered to become a world-leading industrial centre. Overcoming much of its recent political turbulence, Belfast has emerged as a vibrant, destination of beautiful Victorian buildings, stylish boutiques and charming old pubs.

  12. Day 12Liverpool, EnglandMay 16, 2028 • Arrives at: 6 am • Departs at: 6 pm

    Liverpool and its port was once home of Cunard Line. The Cunard Building, Royal Liver Building, and the Port of Liverpool Building, all on Pier Head, are often described as the city’s ‘Three Graces’. Liverpool is vibrant and modern, but with a taste of the ‘60s. Take a ferry across the Mersey for some great harbour views, or a Magical Mystery Tour of the city, commemorating The Beatles.
